The Grateful Dead - Althea (Rockpalast, 1981) Clip

Grateful Dead - Althea

From the album "Go To Heaven". The Grateful Dead's experimentalism of psychedelic, country-rock & psuedo-disco sound is abundant in this performance. The keyboardist Brent Mydland's gritty vocals and forceful, bluesy playing grabs the fans' hearts. Jerry Garcia : lead guitar, vocals Bob Weir : rhythm guitar, vocals Brent Mydland : keyboards, vocals Phil Lesh : bass, vocals Bill Kreutzmann : drums, percussion Mickey Hart : drums, percussion

@sparkomatic Heroin does'nt make look older, actually the opposite; heroinabuse have shown decreased the testosteron-production; you don't age as fast as normal.

That Jerry looks older than you think he should could depend on many things: genes, alcohol, stress etc.

  2. sparkomatic says:

@JonasAnonym Jerry looked older than ANYONE should look at his age, and said so himself though. You're right though, it probably wasn't just the heroin use. It might have also been all the chain-smoking of tobacco, the cocaine, the stress, the weight problems, etc.

"For us, there never was a debate. It was over from the very beggining. The very first acid trips, the very first excursions into psychedelia revealed - whatever there is, there's more than we've been allowed to believe. We don't know what it is, we can't describe it, we just suspect its existence, but we know, beyond the shadow of a doubt, that there's more than anybody ever let on. We KNOW that. - Garcia (BAM Magazine, Dec. 18 1987)
