Steal Your Face Album

Steal Your Face Album Picture Obtained Through Wikipedia Steal Your Face, released in June of 1976 is a double album that was recorded live in concert by the Grateful Dead between October 16 and October 20 of that year. This was at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom, thought to be the Dead's "farewell run". Although the title derives from the lyrics of "He's Gone" (Like I told ya, what I said, steal your face right off your head), that song does not appear on the album. The record was dubbed "Steal Your Money" due to the poor sound and song selection. Jerry Garcia said, "None of us liked it. I'm sure even Phil and Owsley didn't like it that much..." In '89, Steal Your Face was first issued on CD and the sound quality was greatly improved.

Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo Lyrics

Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo Lyrics

On the day when I was born Daddy sat down and cried. I had the mark just as plain as day; which could not be denied. They say that Cain caught Abel rollin' loaded dice; Ace of Spades behind his ear and him not thinkin' twice. Halfstep, Mississippi uptown toodeloo Hello, baby, I'm gone, goodbye Half a cup of Rock and Rye. Farewell to you old Southern skies I'm on my way, on my way. If all you got to live for is what you left behind, Get yourself a powder charge and seal that silver mine. Lost my boots in transit, baby, pile of smokin'...

Casey Jones Lyrics

Casey Jones Lyrics

Driving that train, high on cocaine, Casey Jones is ready, watch your speed. Trouble ahead, trouble behind, And you know that notion just crossed my mind. This old engine makes it on time, Leaves Central Station 'bout a quarter to nine, Hits River Junction at seventeen to, At a quarter to ten you know it's travlin' again. Driving that train, high on cocaine, Casey Jones is ready, watch your speed. Trouble ahead, trouble behind, And you know that notion just crossed my mind. Trouble ahead, Lady in red, Take my advice you'd be better off...

Stella Blue Lyrics

Stella Blue Lyrics

All the years combine, they melt into a dream, A broken angel sings from a guitar. In the end there's just a song comes cryin' up the night Thru all the broken dreams and vanished years. Stella blue. Stella blue. When all the cards are down, there's nothing left to see, There's just the pavement left and broken dreams. In the end there's still that song comes cryin' like the wind. Down every lonely street that's ever been Stella blue. Stella blue. I've stayed in every blue-light cheap hotel, can't win for trying. Dust off those rusty strings...

Beat It On Down The Line Lyrics

Beat It On Down The Line Lyrics

Well this job I've got is just a little too hard, Running out of money, Lord, I need more pay. Gonna wake up in the morning Lord, gonna pack my bags, I'm gonna beat it on down the line. I'm goin' down the line, goin down the line, Goin' down the line, goin down the line, Goin' down the line, goin down the line, Beat it on down the line. Yes I'll be waiting at the station Lord, when that train pulls on by, I'm going back where I belong. I'm going back to that same old used-to-be, Down in Joe Brown's coal mine. Coal mine, coal mine, coal mine,...

U.S. Blues Lyrics

U.S. Blues Lyrics

Red and white, blue suede shoes, I'm Uncle Sam, how do you do? Gimme five, I'm still alive, ain't no luck, I learned to duck. Check my pulse, it don't change. Stay seventy-two come shine or rain. Wave the flag, pop the bag, rock the boat, skin the goat. Wave that flag, wave it wide and high. Summertime done, come and gone, my, oh, my. I'm Uncle Sam, that's who I am; Been hidin' out in a rock and roll band. Shake the hand that shook the hand of P.T. Barnum and Charlie Chan. Shine your shoes, light your fuse. Can you use them ol' U.S....

Ship of Fools Lyrics

Ship of Fools Lyrics

Went to see the captain, strangest I could find, Laid my proposition down, laid it on the line. I won't slave for beggar's pay, likewise gold and jewels, But I would slave to learn the way to sink your ship of fools. Ship of fools on a cruel sea, ship of fools sail away from me. It was later than I thought when I first believed you, Now I cannot share your laughter, ship of fools. Saw your first ship sink and drown, from rockin' of the boat, And all that could not sink or swim was just left there to float. I won't leave you drifting down, but...

Sugaree Lyrics

When they come to take you down When they bring that wagon 'round When they come to call on you and drag your poor body down Just one thing I ask of you, just one thing for me Please forget you know my name, my darling Sugaree Shake it, shake it sugaree, just don't tell them that you know me Shake it, shake it sugaree, just don't tell them that you know me You thought you was the cool fool and never could do no wrong Had everything sewed up tight. How come you lay awake all night long Just one thing I ask of you, just one thing for me Please...

El Paso Lyrics

El Paso Lyrics

Out in the West Texas town of El Paso I fell in love with a Mexican girl. Nighttime would fine me in Rose's Cantina, Music would play and Felina would whirl. Black as the night were the eyes of Felina, Wicked and evil while casting a spell. My love was strong for this Mexican maiden, I was in love, but in vain I could tell. One night a wild young cowboy came in, wild as the West Texas wind... Dashing and daring, a drink he was sharing, With wicked Felina, the girl that I love. So in anger I challenged his right for the love of this...

Black-Throated Wind Lyrics

Black-Throated Wind Lyrics

You're bringing me down, I'm running aground, Blind in the lights of the interstate cars, Passing me by, the busses and the semis, Plugging like stones from a slingshot from mars. But I'm here on the road, bound to the load, That I picked up in ten thousand cafes and bars. Alone with the rush of the drivers that won't pick me up, The highway, the moon, and clouds and the stars. Black throated wind, keeps on pourin' in, With it's words of a life where nothing is new, Ah, mother american night, I pass from the light, Ah, I'm drownin' in you. I...

Big River Lyrics

Big River Lyrics

Well I taught that weeping willow how to cry cry cry, Taught the clouds how to cover up a clear blue sky. Tears I cried for that woman are gonna flood you big river, And I'm a gonna sit right here until I die. I met her accidentally in St. Paul, Minnesota, She tore me up everything I heard her drawl, that southern drawl. Well I heard my dream went back downstream, cavortin' in Davenport, And I follow you big river when you called. Well I followed her down to St. Louie, later on down the river, Trader said she's been here, but she's gone, boy,...

Well the joint was jumpin', going 'round and 'round, Hey! realin' and a rockin', what a crazy sound, Well they never stopped rockin' till the moon went down. Well I kept on dancin', going 'round and 'round, Hey! realin' and a rockin', what a crazy sound, Well they never stopped rockin' till the moon went down. Promised Land Lyrics

Promised Land Lyrics

I left my home in Norfolk Virginia, California on my mind. Straddled that Greyhound, it rode me past Raleigh, and on across Caroline. Stopped in Charlotte and bypassed Rock Hill, and we never was a minute late. We was ninety miles out of Atlanta by sundown, rollin' 'cross the Georgia state. Had motor trouble it turned into a struggle, half way 'cross Alabam, the 'hound broke down left us all stranded in downtown Birmingham. Straight off bought me a through train ticket, right across Mississippi clean And I was on the midnight flyer out of...

It Must Have Been The Roses Lyrics

It Must Have Been The Roses Lyrics

Annie laid her head down in the roses. She had ribbons, ribbons, ribbons, in her long brown hair. I don't know, maybe it was the roses, All I know I could not leave her there. I don't know, it must have been the roses, The roses or the ribbons in her long brown hair. I don't know, maybe it was the roses, All I know I could not leave her there. Ten years the waves roll the ships home from the sea, Thinkin' well how it may blow in all good company, If I tell another what your own lips told to me, Let me lay 'neath the roses, till my eyes no...
